The best tree in the forest system....🌳



                                                            


  • The Bee tree can be introduced as a plant that grows in almost all parts of Sri Lanka under the botanical name of Madhuca Longifolia.
  • The bee tree have grown well on the banks of the lakes in our village.
  • There are currently seven species of bee tree found.

  • The trunk of the bee tree is about 20m high the young immature leaves are reddish in color with a bulb. Bee flowers occur during the ginseng and gill months and are yellow.
  • Every ruler who was interested in insuring the ancient environment of Sri Lanka worked to protect the Bee tree. The kings at that time forbade the felling of the Bee tree and if anyone cut down a Bee tree, the penalty was death.
  • The Bee tree is a fertile object. Bats feed on Bee flowers and Bee nuts then make manure under the beehive. 




                                                                   



  • Every part of the Bee tree has medicinal properties.
  • The Bee tree performs another unique function. That is the Bee tree has a unique ability to produce oxygen both day and night.
  • Therefore, the Bee tree is a species that needs to be further protected.
